Control Every Bend, from Flat Sheet to Finished Part
Sheet metal bending transforms flat material into parts with defined angles, radii and profiles. The real challenge is not producing a single qualified part, but maintaining stable angles, dimensions and forming consistency across repeated production.
Leadway combines press brake engineering, servo control, CNC programming, crowning compensation and tooling technology to support precision parts, heavy plates, long workpieces and automated bending production.
Technologies Behind Stable Bending
-
01
Closed-Loop Ram Synchronization
The left and right sides of the ram must remain synchronized throughout the bending cycle. Leadway UPB press brakes use closed-loop electro-hydraulic servo control to regulate the Y1 and Y2 axes and maintain stable ram movement.
-
02
Crowning Compensation
Under bending load, the ram and worktable may deform slightly, causing angle variation along long workpieces. Mechanical or hydraulic crowning applies compensation across the bending length to reduce this difference.
-
03
CNC Programming and Backgauge Positioning
Depending on the selected control system, Leadway press brakes can support graphical programming, automatic bend-sequence calculation, tool libraries, angle correction and collision detection.
Multi-axis backgauges provide accurate positioning for different flange dimensions, part heights and asymmetric workpieces.
-
04
Tooling and Fast Changeovers
Tooling directly affects the internal radius, minimum flange size, required bending force and final profile.
Leadway can configure segmented tooling, single-V and multi-V dies, large-radius tools, hemming tools and quick-clamping systems according to the workpiece.
